A Library by the People, for the People
West Ealing Community Library is fully run by volunteers. It’s a free, welcoming space where people of all ages come to read, learn, access the internet, attend events, and find support. We’re proud to be part of the official Ealing Library network—offering more than just books.
💬 Why This Library Matters
✔️ A community safety net where asylum seekers, job seekers, older people, students, and families find support and connection .
✔️ A cultural and social hub—hosting live music, spoken-word, puppet theatre, and arts activities that build local pride and vibrancy .
✔️ A bridge across generations, facilitating everything from children’s homework clubs to seniors’ meet-ups .
💸 Why We Need Your Help
Keeping the library running is no small feat. To stay open, we rely entirely on volunteers and community funding:
-
It takes 3–4 volunteers per hour to maintain opening hours—and that’s just the start. More help means longer hours, weekend services, and new programs like homework clubs, craft sessions, school visits, and business support.
-
We need to cover rent, utilities, equipment maintenance, and materials—from books to craft supplies to printing and IT resources.
-
To fund development—upgrades, training rooms, diverse cultural events, and outreach to under-represented community groups.
